Direct Support Professional (DSP)

DSPs provide daily support, skill building, and supervision for adults with IDD in Supported Living and Semi-Independent Living programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with daily living skills
  • Supporting community participation
  • Providing transportation
  • Documenting daily notes
  • Ensuring safety and dignity
  • Encouraging independence

Community-Based Habilitation Staff

Staff support individuals in community settings through structured activities, skill building, and social engagement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating community outings
  • Teaching daily living and social skills
  • Supporting communication and self-advocacy
  • Encouraging participation and confidence

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass background checks
  • Ability to complete required training
  • Compassion, patience, and professionalism

Preferred Qualifications

(Not required but helpful)

  • Experience working with individuals with IDD
  • CNA, DSP, or caregiving background
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Medication administration experience
